ATEK Metal TechnologiesCore / Finishing Operator (Final Inspection) - 1st / 2nd / 3rd Shifts
SUMMARY: Core, finishing, and final inspection employees will cross train into a variety of non-mold / melt operations to include core make, core assembly, knock out, saw, bench, CNC, leak test, and final inspection of castings. Employees in this area may train on a variety of cylinder head and non-cylinder head castings. Advanced employees may also train into heat treat, solution, and straightening post processing operations as well.
WAGE TYPE: Hourly, Non-Exempt
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform work in accordance with specific job work instructions
- Safely operate core make, CNC, knock out, saw, shot blast, and leak test machines when needed
- Accurately identify casting defects to determine if parts are acceptable per the cosmetic standard
- Safely and accurately use all hand tools, gauges, and instruments
- Ability to do all job functions as outlined in the Functional Job Analysis
- Follow written and verbal instructions with accuracy
- Correctly fix any defects to ensure compliance with the standard
- General tasks or duties as assigned
- Heat treat, solution, and straightening operations (for advanced level 2 and 3 core finishing operators only)
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:
- Reports to: Shift Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience Expected:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must Pass ATEK Position Specific Training to become Certified in role
- Must pass ATEK Functional Job Analysis and pre-employment physical and Drug Screen for the position
Preferred:
- Prior experience in manufacturing
- National Career Readiness Certificate Preferred
Communication Skills:
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend the English language
Working Conditions:
- Will have regular exposure to foundry environment including: dust, heat, fumes and noise
