Finishing Operator - 2nd and 3rd Shift

SUMMARY:  Safely and efficiently operate machines and use hand tools and equipment for removing sand cores and excess metal from castings. May load a CNC machine and/or operate a leak test machine when necessary. May also cross train into other post molding functions when needed. 

LOCATION: New Hampton, IA

WAGE TYPE:  Hourly

FLSA Exemption:  Non-Exempt


  • Safely and correctly load, unload and operate knock out machine and saws
  • Safely remove excess sand and metal per the work instructions
  • Accurately identify casting defects to ensure compliance with the standard
  • Operate Leak Test and/or CNC when needed
  • Ability to do all job functions as outlined by the Functional Job Analysis
  • Follow written and verbal instructions 
  • Safely utilize hand tools and other required equipment


Reports to:  Shift Supervisor
Supervises:  None

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for the expected levels of education and experience required.

Education and/or Experience Expected:  

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D required
  • Must pass ATEK Knock Out/ Saw Training to become a Certified Knock Out / Saw Operator
  • Must pass ATEK Functional Job Analysis and Pre- Employment Drug Screen for Finishing Position 


  • Prior experience in manufacturing
  • National Career Readiness Certificate Preferred. 

Communication Skills:

Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language

System Skills:

None Required

Working Conditions:

Frequent exposure to foundry like environment (high heat, dust, etc.)
