Senior Purchasing/Customer Service Specialist

SUMMARY:  Dual role that oversees all purchasing activity within the organization, as well as main representative of the organization to both customers and suppliers regarding production issues.

WAGE TYPE:  Salaried Exempt

FLSA Exemption:  Professional


Purchasing:  Responsible for supplier qualification/management, including qualifying new vendors, tracking performance, and classifying levels. Enter and track vendor Return Merchandise Authorizations, including outsourced services. Enter and maintain blanket purchase orders. Coordinate orders of raw materials, tooling, and Maintenance Repair and Operations items. Responsible for managing the purchase, inventory, and deliveries of alloy. Manage overall purchasing process in accordance with AMT purchasing procedures.  Ensure ATEK receives best value from suppliers. Work with Accounts Payable for invoice approval and resolving issues.                                               

Customer Service:  Primary contact for all AMT customers for production order management. Provide all customers with details in regards to order and shipment expectations in timely manner. Must work with internal team members to determine inventory levels and production demands, while providing insight on variations to schedules and orders. Manage all shipments, including ensuring that customer shipping paperwork is done properly, and advanced shipping notifications are in compliance with customer standards. Responsible for order review on tooling and castings. Manage Tier 2 activity to ensure order expectations are met.

Supervises:  Purchasing/Inventory Control Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS:  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for the expected levels of education and experience required.

Education and/or Experience Expected: 

  • 3-5 years of related experience or degree in related field


  • Prior experience in manufacturing

Communication Skills:

  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language
  • Must establish and maintain high levels of responsiveness and credibility with customers and vendors
  • Must be able to drive excellent results while maintaining positive and effective relationships with all internal and external customers

System Skills:

  • MS Office® Suite proficiency
  • ERP System experience (IQMS Preferred)

Working Conditions:

  • Works in climate controlled office 95% of time. Will have some exposure to foundry environment including: dust, heat, fumes and noise.
