ATEK Metal TechnologiesSet-up Operator - 2nd Shift / 3rd Shift


SUMMARY: Set-up Operator (recognized internally as S Operators) are responsible for a variety of roles and job functions within the tool set up area of the organization. There are three levels of S operators, with advancing levels of skill and knowledge expectations throughout the levels. Job functions throughout the S levels, include, but are not limited breaking down packs, spraying, buffing, tool repair, tool installation, removal of tool from machine, and automated spray cell operations. Other organizational functions outside of set up are recognized in higher levels of the S function. The three levels of skills and mastery are outlined in the S Development Plan (AMT***). S operators are able to advance through various levels in the S function as skills, knowledge, and capabilities allow, as well as the need to meet organizational needs.

Wage Type: Hourly

FLSA Exemption: Non-Exempt

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow all safety protocol and wear all required PPE
  • Safely operate machines/tools associated with S level
  • Safely and accurately use all hand tools, gauges, and instruments
  • Ability to safely perform all job functions as outlined in the Functional Job Analysis (physical job description)
  • Perform work in accordance with specific job work instructions
  • Accurately identify defects to determine if parts are acceptable per the cosmetic standard (when molding for breaks)
  • Correctly fix any defects to ensure compliance with the standard (when molding for breaks)
  • Follow written and verbal instructions with accuracy
  • General tasks or duties as assigned
  • Must obtain fork truck driver certification if working in tooling functions of set up

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:

  • Reports to: Set-up Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for the expected levels of education and experience required.

Education and/or Experience Expected:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Must Pass ATEK Set-up Training to become a Certified Set-up Operator
  • Must pass ATEK Functional Job Analysis and pre-employment physical and Drug Screen for Set-up position
  • Must be able to pass ATEK Fork Truck Driver Certification

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in manufacturing
  • National Career Readiness Certificate Preferred

Communication Skills:

  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend the English language

Working Conditions:

  • Will have regular exposure to foundry environment including: dust, heat, fumes and noise
