August 4, 2021 - Eden Prairie, MN, USA – From a metal stamping company that supplied two-thirds of the world’s tape reel packages with stored information to now a technology manufacturer that stores information in the cloud, ATEK Companies is celebrating 75 years of innovation and growth.
In 1946, the year following the end of World War II, the company operated in Minneapolis. While running that business, Fred Bieber earned the opportunity to buy it out, creating the spirit of innovation that remains the foundation of ATEK today. Today, Bieber’s son, Bill Bieber, is chairman of the board, and one of the three co-owners of the company, along with Mark Osmanksi and Kay Phillips.
Currently with four operating companies and five locations throughout Minnesota and Iowa, ATEK Companies includes ATEK Access Technologies, ATEK Metal Technologies, Solar Plastics and Fluidall.
Though the locations are concentrated in the upper Midwest, ATEK products make their way all around the globe. The ATEK family of products serves several diverse industries including motorsports, recreational, transportation, industrial, sporting, agriculture, medical, military, government, and oil and gas.
“As an entrepreneurial company, we’ve evolved with the world’s everchanging technology and invested strategically many times during the last 75 years to meet our customers’ needs and the markets they serve,” said Bill Bieber. “Throughout the last seven and a half decades we’ve utilized leading-edge technologies to deliver the highest quality products and services, but our most important asset in our business is our people.”
Today, ATEK employs over 500 people with a focus on the next 75 years of innovation. “Each ATEK company has products that could take us to new heights,” said Mark Osmanski co-owner and CEO of ATEK Companies. “We’re also always keeping our eyes open for acquisitions that will complement our current companies.”
“When we buy a company, we’re investing in the talent as well as the product,” said Julie Mork, Vice President of Human Resources at ATEK Companies. “People are the essence, so it’s important that the people value collaboration, transparency, authenticity and that they fit into the fabric of ATEK.”
Another core value at ATEK is supporting the communities in which they work and the industries in which they serve. Whether it’s breaking ground on the new foundry program at a local high school or building a wheelchair ramp at a nearby camp for disables children, giving back is the foundation of the philanthropic work of the Bieber family.
”Our success reflects the hard work of our team members and suppliers, as well as the trust of our customers,” said Bieber. “It’s important that we celebrate this with all our employees, customers and vendor partners – for without them this milestone could not have been achieved.”
